The 2010 SWE Sonora Region Conference and Career Fair Committee would like to welcome you to the Valley of the Sun by inviting you to join us for an opening reception at Sam’s Café in the Arizona Center. At this welcome reception, you indulge in delicious Southwestern appetizers, enjoy the courtyard view from the heated patio of Sam’s Café, mingle with professionals and students in a relaxed setting, and entertain the kid in you by performing fun, interactive science experiments.
Children are always having fun with the hands-on science experiments that SWE members offer at various outreach events, so we thought that the conference attendees should have the opportunities to try out some experiments as well in hopes that you can teach the similar experiments to children during E-Week or at a future outreach events. As an added fun factor and to challenge the kid in you (or maybe even the engineer in you), prizes will be given out to the best science experiments.
The cost of the welcome event includes all you can eat appetizers, unlimited soft drinks, tea and coffee, and materials for science experiments. There will be a cash bar for the 21 and up attendees.
Sam’s Café in the Arizona Center is located conveniently next to the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown hotel and is within walking distance.
Attire: Business Casual attire. A sweater or light jacket is advised
This event requires a ticket and will be a selectable option on the conference registration form.
