Call for Region Awards Submissions

Sonora Region award committee would like to invite all sections (professional and collegiate) and MALS to participate in two new awards, the information collected will help collect the history of the Region and inspire future engineers. Please let Deb Willems, deb.willems@swe.org, know if you are planning to participate in these awards that will be collected at the Region Conference in Phoenix. Please don’t hesitate to contact Deb if you have any questions.
SONORA HISTORY AWARD
The Sonora History Award recognizes the efforts of members to capture section and MAL history in a creative media. For the inaugural year, each section can prepare two pages of a 12 x 12 scrapbook (two sides an open book) that captures the essence of the sections history. Contributions will be collected at the Region Conference and will be voted on by a panel of judges. Future submissions guidelines will be determined by the awards committee and will align with the goals of the Region. Awards will be presented at the annual SWE Region B Conference.
When did you know?
A brief narrative to describe when you realized that you wanted to become an engineer, pictures are encouraged. Submissions can be in any written media i.e. a poem, story, essay etc. that captures your experience of when you knew you would be an engineer. Submissions will be collected at the region conference and will be added to the Region Scrapbook.
